Never been the word Apple was used like today after it gave us”The revolutionary Ipod”. I guess most of the people who are going to read this blog is an apple fan and thinks Steve Jobs as some cult figure. This blog is especially for them. Let’s see you remain a loyal apple customer till the end or not.
Strike 1– Do you think it’s befitting to create such a hype before the launch of any iPod version, iPad or iPhone.
We all know the general public is naive and anxious. Is it correct on the part of Big Company like apple to create such hype so that public stand in queue from night only; in front of shops just to get the new version of the so-called newer technology. I say its bullshit. But I know you will say it’s not the fault of Apple so let’s jump to the next point.
Strike 2– Do you know how this huge demand is met, in just a matter of few days?
People from all parts of world just want to get hold of the new iPhone and apple gets the highest number of pre launch registration. In just a duration of 10 days apple faces a target of millions of iPhone to be produced. Did you ever believe, in the god’s grace, that everything was made in USA? No way, it’s impossible in USA with the kind of high labor charges. So where do u turn to when you need low labor charge. Its China or India, in this case its China. And do you know that the labors are forced to work almost 17 hrs a day? Now is that ethically correct? …Up to you to decide.
Strike 3– Do you know how these labors are treated in this Chinese factory?
Now just don’t tell me that apple is not liable to what happens in that factory. It’s like you are buying fruits from a fruit shop, the fruit vendor is making a child labor work like a donkey and you are saying I am not doing anything unethical. As long as labor thinks it fine, it’s OK with me. The labors in the factory are just used like cattle. They work for 17hrs a day, sleep in a room which stinks like your bathroom and in fact the same size also. Is it not apple equally responsible for the well-being of the labors?…Up to you to decide.
Strike 4– Do you know the same Chinese factory had the highest number of suicide rate for the labors and still Apple continued its business to them?
At some point of time, the number of suicides was so staggering and tumultuous that Chinese human rights commission filed a case against the factory owners and apple still continued to have a business relationship with them. This time the fruit vendor is bludgeoning the child labor and you are just ignoring it, saying I am happy with my fruits and I don’t care about anything else. All the suicides that happened in the factory were from jumping from the top floor, now you can understand how inhumane these factory owners were by the step taken by them to stop suicides. The only step that they took was applying a net around the top floor. Can you believe this? Now what do you think? Is it not ethically wrong for Apple to continue business with them?…..up to you to decide.
I am not telling you that you should stop buying apple products but I want you to think and to think is what it makes us human. Everything that glitters is not gold. Are you still an apple fan or just an apple user?
