SoC is a Broadcom BCM2835 which has ARM1176JZFS ,running at a speed of 700 Mhz and a videocore 4 GPU capable of Blueray quality playback . Check out Quake III running on this . They say graphic capabilities is roughly equivalent to Xbox 1 level of performance .

With Python as the educational  language and fedora as recommended distribution this little beauty will make open source hardware a reality . Though you would be able to run /compile any language which will compile for ARMv6 . You can add your touch screen if you may or port it to android , ram is a bottleneck though and it is not removable or swappable at present.
