So here we are with another episode of ” Website of the Month ” . This month we are covering a site which every guy working on a computer project, be it on C, C++, Java, Android, XML, PHP, WordPress, etc , have to know . The site is the very technically famous Stackoverflow .
The site is a collection of Q&A’s , people put up technical questions and the vibrant community replies . The site is very easy to navigate and there is a high probablity that the question you want to ask has already been asked . You can navigate to your desire segment through tags. The tags directory is huge there are around 878 tags pages , each contains 36 tags . You can do the maths .
To encourage the community to participate they have a badge and reputation system . If a question has been correctly answered the person who asked the question accepts the answer and the person who answered it gets reputation point . Reputation is a measure of how much the community trusts you and how helpful your answers are .Questions can also be voted up if community feels it relevant . Questions or answers which are inappropriate are awarded with negative points. Your privileges as a user increases as you answer people’s queries. For instance you cannot reward points until you have a reputation of 15 .The chat facility will not be available till you gain further reputation of 20 .
There is a lot more to the site than what is mentioned here and there are tons of Q&A sites out there then why Stackoverflow. I will let them answer this through this image
Stay tuned for more =].
